If you are facing the decision of potentially needing to surrender your pet, please contact us at 403-823-8999 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We are able to assist with resources to help keep your pet with you.
If surrender is determined to be the best option, we will then proceed with evaluating several factors. Our current population and already planned incoming population needs to allow for us to have the resources needed to care for your pet.
Next:
We require that your vet records be sent to us in advance of your pet arriving, this can be arranged by contacting your veterinary clinic and requesting the records be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. Once your pet’s needs have been assessed and our population allows for their intake, a surrender appointment is booked. At this appointment, we will assist you in filling out paperwork about your pet as well as sign paperwork relinquishing ownership to our organization. This appointment will take approximately 30-60 minutes.

We request a surrender fee of $40 to help us offset the cost of caring for the animals in our care while they await new adopters. We spend approximately $300 per animal prior to their adoption, this includes vaccinations, deworming, microchip, spay/neuter surgery, food, water, husbandry supplies, and any additional medical costs that occur. We do not receive any government or city funding and rely solely on public donations and grants to provide for the animals in our care.
Due to being a primarily volunteer supported organization, we are unable to provide you with updates on the pet you have surrendered to us. It’s also important that you know after surrendering you are not eligible to adopt your animal back (or have someone do so on your behalf). You are welcome to follow their journey on our website and social media pages.
